About The French Pantry -Jacksonville
The French Pantry can trace its iconic Northeast Florida roots more than 20 years to 1995 when the original owners, Tim and Barbara Felver, moved across the country from California, leaving behind careers working alongside the likes of celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck (who became a close friend) and legendary pastry chef Mary Bergin. With a passion and knack for culinary arts, the couple set out to build their next venture -- a commercial baking business in a modest warehouse on Powers Avenue near Wolfson High School.

Jacksonville is in Florida, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Jacksonville follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Crowded at busy hours no more than 50 seats plus 3 tables outside. Dirty! Very stinky, shared bathrooms. Not sure what the hype is about. Over priced for some slim sandwiches. DOESN'T compare to KATZ Deli. There was no wow factor here, just a boring place with boring food and boring people.

This place has been on my must-try list for years. The word of long lines had deterred me. Decided to randomly try a weekday to check it out. I was not prepared. The long list of menu items in cursive tiny print and low light was overwhelming for this set of aging eyes. I should have researched ahead of time what to order - tip 1. After ordering at the counter, youβre assigned a table. A lovely lady brought us our drinks and two types of bread with oil and vinegar herb dip. Pumpernickel was the best of the two - tip 2. Unless itβs a special, sandwiches donβt come with sides - tip 3. There are refills if you ask - tip 4. The bread was the best part of my sandwich. The fries were good as well. A few people had burgers that looked great. I think I built the place up in my head so much I may have disappointed myself. I will try again and do my research beforehand.

I visited during lunch on a weekday and was surprised to see how busy it was with a line out the door. Got excited as if thereβs a line, it must be good. We waited about 10-15 minutes before ordering, but the cashier was very nice. I wasnβt sure we would find a table, but they place you at a table rather than you finding one yourself, which is nice. I ordered the Kobe Burger, which was $17.50, and it was wild to me. I also ordered a quiche to-go. I canβt remember the price, but my total was definitely over $30. I unfortunately did not like the burger. I love a good specialty burger, but this one tasted very strange. The fries were really good, though. I believe I upgraded my fries to truffle fries. The quiche was really good for breakfast the following day. I need to give it another try and get a new sandwich.

This was a surprisingly beautiful place off in the cut. This place has been here for decades. They have a lot of business and I never seen a commercial. That's saying something. I ordered me a Swiss Turkey Guacamole sandwich and lemon water. I really enjoyed the flavor of how they meshes the texture and vegetables together. It has a hint of Thanksgiving to me. This time I wasn't having dessert, but, the birthday cake slice was really good from what I heard at the table. The ambiance was very calming and it doesn't feeling inside what you'd expect from the outside. You have to come here to see for yourself.

The French Pantry is very refreshing. The atmosphere is laid back. I'm from Louisiana and when I tell you the French baguettes are epic! Oh my goodness! I'm not a big bread fan but it's something about fresh bread. This restaurant is a must try. The service ans the food is always consistent.
